Welcome to my homepage. I am a Ph.D. student at the Department of Sociology / Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).

My  research project Academic Communication and Internet Discussion Groups  analyses the use and functions of Internet Discussion Groups (IDGs) for academic communication. The project analyses especially their interdependency with and functions for informal academic communication which is crucial for scientitific progress. It should be appealing to those who are interested in studies about computer-mediated communication, the Internet, social networks, problems of cooperation and (obviously) academic communication.

Additionally I give (or have given) undergraduate courses about quantitative research methods, multivariate data analysis, sociological theory, and social network analysis at the Department of Sociology of the University of Groningen (The Netherlands), the Sociology Institute of the Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf (Germany), and the Department of Sociology at the Gerhard-Mercator-University Duisburg (Germany).
